ANTANANARIVO – ANTSIRABE – AMBATONIKOLAHY – ANTSIRABE – AMBOSITRA – ANTOETRA – AMBALADINGANA – AMBOSITRA – RANOMAFANA – ANDRINGITRA – AMBALAVAO – ISALO – IFATY/TOLIARA (TULEAR) – ANTANANARIVO

1. Day : Arrival in ANTANANARIVO/IVATO airport.
Welcome and Transfer to the Hotel
2. Day : TANA – ANTSIRABE (170 km)
We start the day with a visit of Antananarivo&rsquo;s upper town; we drive by car to the Queen‘s Palace. From here, we have a fantastic view of the city. We then walk down through narrow alleys. Downhill, our car is waiting for us and brings us to ANTSIRABE.<br />We drive southbound on the hilly central highlands. Along the road we see the typical red clay houses and arrive in AMBATOLAMPY (68 km). Here we visit a foundry where aluminium pots are handmade.
We continue our trip to ANTSIRABE with its famous hot springs. We visit the city and can take a ride on a rickshaw (“Pousse pousse”).
3. Day : ANTSIRABE - AMBATONIKOLAHY
The day begins early with a walk in the surroundings of ANTSIRABE. We experience the every day life of the local peasants. Our walk leads us through amazing rice terraces and small typical villages. On the way, the guide provides details on how rice is grown here, about biological fertiliser, traditional food and the activities of women in the countryside. Overnight stay in the Gîte d’Ambatonikolahy
4. Day : AMBATONIKOLAHY &;ndash; ANTSIRABE
After breakfast, we hike up to the Ifasina Mountain at 1500m elevation.
Here starts a 4 to 5 hours walk through rice and vegetable fields and through villages. We pass the Antafofo waterfall and visit the royal tombs of BETAFO.
5. Day : ANTSIRABE – AMBOSITRAAMBALADINGANA
We move on to AMBOSITRA, the capital of the small tribe of the Zafimaniry and of woodcarving. We visit craftsmen (woodcarver, carpenters, embroiderers, sculptors, turners).After lunch, we drive on a dirt road to AMBALADINGANA.
We visit the surroundings of AMBALADINGANA and the local crawfish fishers. From the hotel, we can enjoy the beautiful panorama.

6. Day : AMBALADINGANA – ANTOETRAAMBOSITRA  
We drive 13 km on dirt road to the village of ANTOETRA.
Our guide walks us to traditional villages, which are only accessible by foot.
We return to ANTOETRA and visit the village (crannogs, silos, history of the aborigines, culture, traditions and lifestyle)
Drive back to AMBOSITRA
7. Day : AMBOSITRA  – RANOMAFANA
We drive along the sinuous road to RANOMAFANA. We stop at the small town of AMBOHIMASOA where we have lunch while a band plays Malagasy.
8. Day : RANOMAFANA NATIONAL PARK
Start of our walk through the secondary and then primary forest of the RANOMAFANA National park. We marvel at the diversity of the malagasy fauna and flora. This is the home of the famous bamboo lemur, of the diadem sifaka, of magnificent chameleons, of colourful butterflies, to name but a few.
Night walk through the park to observe the smallest lemur, Microcebus.
9. Day : RANOMAFANA – AMBALAVAO – ANDRINGITRA
We continue our trip to AMBALAVAO, from where we start a 2 hours drive on dirt roads to the Andringitra National Park. Short walk in the Namoly valley. Beautiful landscape with rice terraces. On the way we meet villagers.

10. Day : Trekking in ANDRINGITRA National park
Trekking in the park, up to 2050 Meter elevation. The region is rich in endemic fauna and flora, such as orchids, birds and the diadem lemur.

11. Day : Trekking to Pic Bobby (2658 km)
From the top of Pic Boby, we have a magnificent panoramic view of the landscape.
Pick nick.
Descent back to Ambalavao.
12. Day : AMBALAVAO – ISALO/RANOHIRA (241 km)
We leave the central highlands. The landscape changes from the mountainous landscape to wide savannas. We reach the sandstone mountain range of ISALO with its strange rock formations.
We start a short walk through the national park.
13. Day : ISALO
Trekking in the rocky mountain of ISALO.
Thousands of year’s erosion carved strange forms into the rocks.
You can see many endemic plants and lemurs.
14. Day : ISALO – IFATY/TULEAR (295 km)
Drive from ISALO to TULEAR/IFATY
15-16. Day : Day on leisure on the beach.
17. Day : IFATY/TULEAR – ANTANANARIVO
Transfer to the airport. Flight to TANA
18. Day : Flight ANTANANARIVO – PARIS
