TOUR 2A: ANTANANARIVO – MORONDAVA – BEKOPAKA/TSINGY – MORONDAVA – TULEAR (TOLIARA)/IFATY

Day 1: Arriving in ANTANANARIVO. We meet you at the airport on arrival.
Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon: City sightseeing.

Day 2: Transfer to the airport. Flight TANA – MORONDAVA.
Day 3: By 4-wheel drive car, we continue to BEKOPAKA/TSINGY, passing by the BAOBAB Alley (165 km)
Day 4: Visit the spectacular “Big TSINGY
The TSINGY are razor-sharp limestone pinnacles between the formidable cliffs and rock walls, there are sunken deciduous forests rich in wildlife. The underground is a vast network of subterranean passages and fast flowing rivers.
Day 5: Drive from Bekopaka to MORONDAVA.
Day 6: Transfer to the airport. Flight MORONDAVA – TULEAR. Transfer to Ifaty beach (30 km)
Day 7: Day at your own leisure on the beach.

Jour 9: Trekking in the rocky mountains of ISALO
Thousands of year’s erosion carved strange forms into the rocks.
Jour 10: ISALO – FIANARANTSOA (250 km)
Leave Isalo to Fianarantsoa through wide savannah.
Enjoy passing near the ANDRINGITRA mountain chain. Visit the private park ANJA where you can see many lemurs and the production of the ANTAIMORO paper in AMBALAVAO
Jour 11: FIANARANTSOA – MANAKARA (264 km)
Train ride from FIANARANTSOA to MANAKARA.
The spectacular train line links the highland city of Fianarantsoa with the east coast town of MANAKARA. Built between 1926 and 1936, it goes through some of Madagascar’s most scenic countryside on its 163 km.
The train stops at every station. The whole village is there to welcome the visitors.
Jour 12: MANAKARA – MANANJARY (165 km)
A car is waiting for you to drive you to MANANJARY. (160 KM)
Jour 13: Beginning of the 4 days boat trip on the Canal des Pangalanes from MANANJARY to MAHANORO

MANANJARY - AMBOHITSARA (05.00)

In the morning we start our trip on the CANAL DES PANGALANES
The Canal, 650 km long from FARAFANGANA to TAMATAVE is the only way of communication, there is no road.

On a wooden motor boat we smoothly follow the canal. On our way we cross canoes heavily loaded with bananas, pineapples and other local products.
The inhabitants of the surrounding villages wave their hands to welcome us from the riverside. Children jump into the water to follow the waves of our boat.
After 2 hours, we enjoy a picnic under the palm trees.

Then we arrive in AMBOHITSARA, a typical Malagasy village.
Pretty bungalows, built on a hill between the Canal and the Ocean, are waiting for us.

Jour 14:

AMBOHITSARA - NOSY VARIKA (05.00)

After breakfast we visit the village of Ambohitsara then continue our boat trip.

We may leave the boat and walk on the wonderful beach while the boat follows the canal. Visit of the village of NOSY VARIKA.
Overnight in a very simple hotel or camping near Nosy Varika on full-board-basis
Jour 1:

NOSY VARIKA - MASOMELOKA (03.00)

The canal follows his way through sand dunes. On certain places it can be almost covered by water hyacinths which make the navigation difficult. We pass big lakes cross other motor boats heavily loaded with goods of all kind and many travellers.

We visit the big village of MASOMELOKA:

Jour 16 :

MASOMELOKA - MAHANORO (04.30)

Our last day on the boat. On both sides of the canal we admire the dense tropical forest.

Orchids hang on the trees. We visit a village on the border.

Shortly before MAHANORO we pass through the mouth of the big river MANGORO

Jour 17: MAHANORO - ANDASIBE (215 km)
By car we drive to ANDASIBE. On the way we can stop in ANTSAMPANANA
Jour 18: ANDASIBE - ANTANANARIVO (135 km)
By car we drive to ANDASIBE. On the way we can stop in ANTSAMPANANA    Daily visit of the National Park of Andasibe, famous for its beauty and the authenticity of its flora and fauna. Endemic plants, the best orchids in the world grow there wildly. The well-known species of lemur, the INDRI-INDRI lives there.
Transfer to the airport. Flight back home

AMBOHITSARA – NOSY VARIKA

De bon matin, les pêcheurs partent en mer avec leurs pirogues, traversant des grandes vagues  menaçantes afin de nourrir leur famille. La lutte contre les vagues est une lutte pour la vie et la mort dont l’homme sort vainqueur à la fin du combat.

 

Continuation de notre croisière sur le Canal des Pangalanes.

Après l’embouchure d’Ambohitsara vous pouvez descendre du bateau et faire une longue marche le long de la plage magnifique. Le bateau continue sur le canal et vous attend. 

Nous nous arrêtons ce jour à NOSY VARIKA.

Camping ou hôtel très simple.
